Home sweet home for Romsey Town
 |
| Darren Curtis |
ROMSEY Town's new manager Glenn Burnett and his assistant Lee Harrison had plenty to be pleased about after their new-look side had wrapped up all three points from their first home game of the season IN A 1-0 win over Horndean.
Town had six players making their home debuts against a club who had finished seven places and 15 points above them in the 2007-08 campaign.
But with the back four of Lewis Wyeth from Salisbury Youth, skipper Ian Calder from Hamble and Ross Gregory and Trevor Cox from Hamble looking very firm and organised, goalkeeper Mike Hookway was kept waiting until the very end before he had a chance to show his best form.
Midfielders Darren Curtis, Gary Fulker, Callum Tanner from Lymington and Tommy Donaldson generally had the better of their exchanges.
Robert Cox from Hamble and Ollie Crook, who has stepped up from Romsey Reserves, and Robert Cox (Trevor's brother) gave Horndean one or two anxious moments in settling into the strike force roles held mainly by Simon De'Ath and Dean Higgins last season.
