Romsey out of cricket promotion race

| Morgan Rushbrook in full flow |
A FINE all-round performance by Morgan Rushbrook swept Lymington to an emphatic 86-run win over Old Tauntonians & Romsey, who are now out of SEPL Division 2 promotion reckoning.
Rushbrook struck a bruising 94 before taking 4-34 as Lymington kept their options open.
The Cardiff UCCE all-rounder hit two sixes and nine fours in his innings and, had wickets not tumbled at the opposite end, would probably have scored his maiden SPL century.
Nevertheless, his 119-run second-wicket stand with Dave Griffiths (40) paved the way to a substantial Lymington total.
Aided by some good catching - one, in particular, in the deep by teenager Danny Mogg to dismiss Craig O'Shannessy first ball - Max Smith weighed in with 5-36 before Lymington reached 209-9.
Save Charles Forward (32), OTs didn't bat as well and sank to 39-4 and later 57-6 as Rushbrook, again backed up by some clean catching, created inroads.
Smith (24) and Gary Flack (21) produced late resistance as the OTs lower order raised the score to 124, with Christian Pain (2-17) and Ollie Kelly (2-20) taking later wickets.
