Mayor opens dental practice

IT was a case of open wide' as the Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Michael Read, snipped the ribbon at a revamped dental practice.

Gentle Dental has relocated from its old city premises in The Square to fill a gap in Parchment Street.

Dr Brenda Macmillan, who runs the practice, said it was designed to offer general dental care alongside cosmetic procedures such as teeth whitening and Botox treatments under one roof.

She said: "Dentistry, and the demands of patients, has changed significantly since I first qualified.

"Patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their teeth should have access to the latest advances in cosmetic dentistry.

"New minimally invasive techniques and painless treatments can now dramatically change their appearance. Cosmetic dentistry can no longer be seen as the preserve of models and film actors."

The mayor opened the practice's new premises by cutting the ribbon last Friday (August 29).

He said: "It can only be good news for Winchester to see significant investment in city centre premises.

"The extensive refurbishment work that has been carried out has totally transformed the building while maintaining and improving the external appearance in keeping with the traditional properties in the area."
