Emma joins theatre staff
THEATRE Royal Winchester has expanded its marketing team with the appointment of Emma Stafford as marketing assistant.
Ms Stafford will work alongside communications manager Kate Raines to help devise and implement marketing communications activity for the theatre.
Ms Stafford, who moved back to Winchester from London eight years ago, said: "I'm thrilled to be a part of a marketing department in such a creative and stimulating environment as Theatre Royal, Winchester.
"We have a fantastic programme scheduled for autumn 08, and I'm looking forward to working on promotional activities for such a variety of high quality productions."
The newcomer to the theatre grew up in Winchester and has followed the theatre's fortunes throughout the years, from the run-down building threatened with closure in the mid 1980s to its current form as a lynchpin to the arts in Winchester.
She said: "I remember attending a production of Macbeth at the theatre when I was a student at Peter Symonds on one of the sporadic occasions when the theatre was open. At that time it was in a very shabby state, with ripped seats and torn curtains. It's wonderful to see it restored to its former glory and to be a member of the team here."
Ms Stafford's previous work background includes teaching modern languages, recruitment consultancy and marketing communications. Her new role will be extremely varied, from writing press material and direct mail letters to assisting in photo-shoots, managing the volunteers, devising promotional activity and delivering brochures to local schools and businesses.
